Congratulations
Aug. 13th, 2012 08:15 pmTitle: Congratulations
Pairings: Tetsuya x Hyde,
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: Nothing is mine. Except for the fic. The fic is mine
Summary: Tetsu gets a phonecall
Warnings: Uhm... angst. Yes.
Note: Hopefully, if I'm not too lazy, this will be the beginning of a short series of one-shots, all/most of them an answer to a
laruku_in_words challenge. This one goes for the "Loss" one.
Congratulations
None of it was unexpected. There had been enough time for him to come to terms with it. In his own way. What this meant was that he knew exactly what he was going to say and he knew exactly how he's supposed to react when the time came. And with the same clear mind, he had predicted that he'd need a friend beside him.
That's why he came to Ken, the only person he could turn to in this situation. But now, all either of them could do was wait. There was nothing that could be changed at this point. So they sat incredibly still, the older man gazing at him in a mix of worry and pity while Tetsu saw nothing but the cellphone in his hands, in a spout of helplessness willing it to stay quiet even though he knew perfectly well that it wouldn't.
He had the sound turned off because he had logically realized that in the state he was in now, his heart might just stop at the shrill ringing. It helped, but he was still startled at the far too loud sound of it vibrating and almost dropped it before managing to bring it to his ear.
"Hello?" He said, and just as he had planned it, his voice did not tremble.
"She said yes, Tetchan."
...just as he had planned it...
"Congratulations, Hyde."
...he knew exactly what he was going to say...
"Thank you. You know I couldn't have done this without your encouragement."
...there had been enough time for him to come to terms with it...
"That's what friends are for."
...he knew exactly how he's supposed to react...
"I have to go now, I just wanted to tell you first. Thank you again, Tetsu."
....there was nothing that could be changed...
"You're welcome. Have a good night."
...in the state he was in now...
He did drop the phone after hanging up. With his one minute of being able to deal with it gone, he slid down the chair onto his knees and stared at the ground. Suddenly all he could hear were the tears sliding down his cheeks, all he could see was silence ringing in his ears and all he could feel was Ken's feet and then knees as he came and knelt in front of him, worried. All he could breathe was the piercing, blinding, deafening, numbing pain in his chest.
And then, he could not breathe at all.
"Tetsu, damn it, snap out of it," were the only words he managed to understand before completely breaking down, falling forward into Ken's arms.
...he had predicted that he'd need a friend beside him...

Date: 2012-08-15 12:53 pm (UTC)... Ken? Now would be a good time to get in contact with your supporting and understanding side. "Snap out of it"? Really?!
And Hyde, so oblivious, so... happy.... maaaaaa!
